Alfred Philippi (3 August 1903 – 15 June 1994) was a highly decorated Generalmajor in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. ==Events== ;Prior to WWII: *1 August 1928: Entered the army as a lieutenant (''leutnant''), assigned to the 11th Infantry Regiment. (I.R. 11). *1 October 1938: Served as an adjutant officer in the 73rd Infantry Regiment (I.R. 73). ;WWII: *1 December 1939: Became an ordinance officer with the 211 Infantry Division. *8 April 1940: Became an operations abtl. on the General Staff d. Heer (Army). *1 April 1942: Promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel (oberstleutnant). *1 May 1942: Assigned to the Ia (operations officer) with the 111th Infantry Division. *1 December 1942: Promoted to colonel (''oberst''); Ia, (operations officer) with the 306th Infantry Division. *1 February 1943: Assigned as Fuhr. Kpf. Gr. 304th Infantry Division. *1 March 1943: Assigned to Grenadier-Regiment 535 (I.R. 535). *14 May 1944: awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross (''Ritterkreuz''). *July–August 1944: Assigned to the ''Fuhr.
